So, I was at Provinssirock this weekend. It’s a music festival in Seinäjoki, Finland. I was working there, cleaning the place from all the shit people throw on the ground and seeing gigs on the side.

I had heard about the band like a few months ago and already fallen quite hard for their music, so wonderful it was. It was quite early on, when Árni (the bass player) threw his pick in the audience, it fell right next to me, but I didn’t notice it right away, so some other girl got it.
I was really enjoying the gig, they were really good and at some point, I got the chance to change to the front row. When the gig ended, Àrni decided to throw another pick. It fell on the ground between the stage and the audience. Some security guy threw it right on my feet from there. Now, I had quick reflects. Some other girl tried to pick it up, but I stepped on that girl. If looks could kill… she was a bit pissed. But hey, I picked the pick (lol, what a word) and got it.
After the gig, me and friend friend were collecting garbage from the area near by, when I see Justin, the singer coming from the bar area next to the stage. I was like O_O and told my friend about it. Then I thought I don’t have a pen, I can’t get an autograph, then my friend was like Well, hurry! He’s gonna be gone in a minute.
So, I went to talk to him. He saw me coming and turned to me. I started saying with my very very excited voice, that Can I just say, I REALLY REALLY admire your band. He thanked me. Then I started saying how awesome they were live and explained my pen situation, and he was sorry for me.
My friend (who apparently was standing right behind me at that time) shouted Mul on kamera!, which can be translated as I have camera!. So, I got a picture with Justin.
He asked me was I volunteering (apparently he saw not good looking blue vest and other stuff). I just said yes. Later on, I was thinking about all the cool things I could’ve added to that answer, why didn’t I think about them then?
After she took the pic, I was like what now? I showed the pic to Justin and then I thought, that we can’t disturb him long… so we went back to work.
A few minutes after that, the rest of the band members walked by. Àrni was walking a bit more far away than others, so I asked him could I take a picture with them. He said yes and then told one other band member (I can’t remember if it was Freddie or Pete) to wait, the third one didn’t notice anything and cept walking… but they did reach him.
After the picture, I said thanks and told them too, how awesome their gig was. Then out of nowhere, I said to Àrni and hey, I got your plektra (note, plektra = pick in Finnish), he just said what? and I replied I don’t know the english word for it, but the thing you play with, my friend shouted pick. Bless her, always helping me. :))) I don’t know if he heard what my friend said, but he understood.
Now, I will always remember what pick means. I will never forget that word.
